Mairi ni Tuatha'an
Daughter of the Tuatha de Danaan
Follower of the Goddess
Mairi is a traveler by heart; she sometimes wanders from the forests of Eire, but most often she is found there.
Mairi is a skilled healer and bard. She prefers to spend her time in the forest collecting herbs and listening to the birds; she is prone to visions and premonitions, and is a skilled reader of portents and omens. Her senses are finely tuned to Nature's heartbeat.
Mairi has at least two daggers on her person at all times; she can outdrink most men twice her size but for the most part is more interested in being serious and studious. A rumor exists that she learned much of what she knows from a powerful battle Druid.
She has learned all three Strains and has played them on the Harp of the Dagda and upon her own harp: the Strain of Lament, which saddens listeners, the Strain of Laughter, which incites merriment, and the Strain of Slumber, which causes sleepiness.
Mairi is also a tender at the Tula Mellonamin Inne.
Battle scars: 1
Personal Quote From Celtic Myths and Legends, by T.W. Rolleston:
"The institutions of royalty and of civic patriotism are both very capable of being fossilised into barren formulae, and thus of fettering instead of inspiring the soul. But the Celt has always been a rebel against anything that has not in it the breath of life, against any unspiritual and purely external form of domination. It is too true that he has been overeager to enjoy the fine fruits of life without the long preparation for the harvest, but he has done and will still do infinite service to the modern world in insisting that the true fruit of life is a spiritual reality, never without pain and loss to be obscured or forgotten amid the vast mechanism of a material civilisation."
